The Star Tribune has endorsed Yvonne Selcer in House district 48A. About Selcer’s experience on the Hopkins School Board the editorial board states “Contrary to allegations of poor fiscal management, DFLer Selcer, as the board’s treasurer and later its chair, led a turnaround that a 2011 independent audit report praised for ‘tough decisions.’ The district came out of statutory operating debt and well into the black on her watch, while holding spending essentially flat for seven years. Her record also includes a pay-for-performance teacher compensation …Read More »

Minnetonka, Minnesota – There is misleading and then there is just plain lying. Republicans clearly crossed that line with an attack mailer this weekend on Yvonne Selcer that falsely claimed she paid her 2012 property taxes late.
Selcer filed an official complaint today with Office of Administrative Hearings citing a mailer paid for the House Republican Campaign Committee that stated “Selcer even failed to pay her own 2012 property taxes on time.” Selcer did pay her taxes on time in 2012, as evidenced by …Read More »
Our campaign would like to announce the endorsements of two icons of Minnesota politics, former Vice President of the United States, Walter Mondale, and Former Governor of Minnesota, Arne Carlson.
They issued the following joint statement:
“High-powered outside financial interests are spending large sums of money on false and misleading ads against Yvonne Selcer.
Ask yourself one question – who will better represent you?
Yvonne Selcer is supported by friends, neighbors, educators, and organizations such as Small Business Minnesota. We will all be better served by making sure we …Read More »

The Freedom Club PAC sent out its fourth mailer entitled “History Making Debt”. It’s ironic that this mailer came out on the same day as Arne Carlson’s commentary in the Star Tribune on the lack of fiscal integrity of the republican leadership in St. Paul. Here’s his commentary in its entirety.

Figures often beguile me, particularly when I have the arranging of them myself; in which case the remark attributed to Disraeli would often apply with justice and force: “There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies and statistics.”

When statistics are used in a Freedom Club PAC mailer, it’s best to look to independent sources for your facts:
Hopkins Schools under Selcer
Opponent in Minnesota Legislature
Balanced the budget and moved district from negative to positive surplus.
Drained rainy day …
The most recent mailer on my opponent’s behalf comes from the Freedom Club State PAC. Their claim is that if you are endorsed by a labor union, you support all their initiatives, past and present.
Ad hominem attacks on groups or individuals will not move Minnesota forward. It is time to stop the gridlock in St. Paul and focus on the important issues that face us: our economy and job creation, education, and our Minnesota quality of life.
It’s important for all my supporters to know my …Read More »
Most of the attacks in this mailer have already been fact checked in Fact Check I – 9/5/2012 Up, Up, and Away Mailer. However, this mailer also contains attacks on Yvonne’s character. In response, the campaign thought you might want to read a letter from her co-chairs that was posted today on Minnetonka Patch.
To the Editor:
For those tired of politics-as-usual and gridlock in St. Paul, Yvonne Selcer is the clear choice for the Minnesota House of Representatives.
Yvonne is a unique candidate who has a proven …Read More »
